Former UAPB Chief To Provide Stadium Security

Updated: January 7, 2009
University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Chancellor Lawrence Davis Junior says there`s nothing wrong with hiring a private security company, even though its owner faces 24 felony counts. Donnie Ray Savage is the former police chief at U-A-P-B. Now he`s back on campus, providing security at all Golden Lion home football games as owner of D-R-S Services. Savage resigned from U-A-P-B in July 2002. That followed his arrest on charges that he illegally used information obtained from the Arkansas Crime Information Center`s database. Savage is also charged with tampering with public records. His firm was awarded a more than 17-thousand-dollar contract with U-A-P-B in August to provide security at five home games. Savage`s charges are still pending. His trial had been set for September 25th, but has been postponed.
