Updated: January 7, 2009
Ed Garner says he`ll make a second attempt at unseating Second District Democratic Congressman Vic Snyder. Garner ran in 2002 as a write-in candidate. Garner, who says he`ll file as a Republican, says Snyder has been ineffective. Snyder was first elected to the eight-county district in central Arkansas in 1998 and would be running for a fifth term. Snyder has seats on the House Veterans Affairs and Armed Services committees. He said he has worked hard on issues important to veterans and Little Rock Air Force Base. Snyder is a physician, has a law degree, and served in the Marines in Vietnam. Garner lives in Maumelle and owns Mama`s Manna Bakery in Little Rock. He says he wants to help bring new jobs to the district.
