Police Standoff Ends In Northwest Arkansas

Updated: January 7, 2009
Two people are under arrest after a standoff at a Fayetteville apartment complex. Police Chief Rick Hoyt says an emergency call was made late last night. The called told dispatchers a man and woman were arguing loudly and two gunshots had been heard. Hoyt says responding officers were NOT able to get in touch with the apartment`s occupants, so a crisis negotiator was called but also was rebuffed. He says the situation ended when the Emergency Response Team forced its way into the apartment -- bringing the standoff to an end without injuries. Arrested were 33-year-old Shane Kyryluk (Kiri-LUKE) and 28-year-old Julie Summers. Kyryluk is charged with aggravated assault and Summers faces two misdemeanors, obstructing a government operation and resisting arrest. Posted by Mike Hellgren
