Officials with the Justice Department plan
to meet with officials from the Pulaski County`s Circuit Clerk`s
office and Election Commission to discuss the county`s troubled
voter-registration database.
The database has previously been the subject of a special grand
jury report, which found that the rolls of voters are only 50
percent accurate.
The grand jury found that the database contained the names of
felons, murder victims, minors, aliens and people with incomplete
or unconfirmed residential addresses.
The problems culminated in last November`s election, when
thousands of people had to wait in long lines at polls and hundreds
of ballots were contested for incomplete information.
County officials said it was unclear exactly what the Justice
Department is looking for.
