The state Higher Education Department has
received more than 759,000 dollars from the federal Education
Department from the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
The money is intended to be used for programs focusing on
scientifically based methods of improving teacher quality,
increasing school accountability and improving core knowledge. A
meeting and workshop is slated Thursday for representatives of
colleges to learn more about No Child Left Behind grant funds.
