Four more human cases of West Nile virus are
being reported in Arkansas.
The state Health Department says the new cases are in Arkansas,
Benton, Miller and Pulaski counties.
That brings the total number of human cases statewide to 21 --
seven in Jefferson County, three in Pulaski County, two in Miller
County, and one each in Arkansas, Benton, Cleburne, Columbia, Drew,
Johnson, Pope, Sevier and Union counties.
The mosquito-borne virus has been detected in humans, horses,
birds, or mosquito pools in these 48 counties: Arkansas, Ashley,
Benton, Bradley, Chicot, Clark, Clay, Cleburne, Cleveland,
Columbia, Craighead, Crawford, Conway, Dallas, Desha, Drew,
Faulkner, Franklin, Greene, Hempstead, Hot Spring, Independence,
Jefferson, Johnson, Lafayette, Lawrence, Lee, Little River, Logan,
Lonoke, Miller, Mississippi, Monroe, Newton, Phillips, Poinsett,
Pope, Pulaski, Randolph, Saline, Sebastian, Sevier, Scott, Stone,
Union, Van Buren, Washington and Woodruff.
