Audubon Arkansas Works To Protect White River

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Audubon Arkansas has opened a field office in northwest Arkansas to work on protecting the watershed on the White River. The state Soil and Water Conservation Commission gave the group a grant to start the project. The project plan includes working with residents, government and elected officials to create a watershed plan for the West Fork of the White River. The soil and water commission says the project will develop strategies to reduce pollutants in the stretch of river and educate people about healthy watersheds. Audubon says the project will mirror aspects of its Fourche Creek watershed restoration effort in Little Rock. Posted by Mike Hellgren
