Officials say a newborn baby girl found in a backpack in a West Memphis parking lot on Thursday is doing well at a hospital. The child was found in a parking lot along Arkansas 77. Officials say the infant`s umbilical cord was still attached. Police had received a call telling them a child had been abandoned in a backpack in the bed of a pickup truck parked on a lot near a hospital. But the truck`s owner, a nurse at the hospital, had driven to a plant nursery a few miles away, where a worker heard a cry, opened the backpack and found the infant.
