A Cell Ban at the Gym?

Updated: January 7, 2009
If you usually throw your cell phone into your workout bag when you head to the gym, it may not be a welcome sight there soon. Gyms across the country are starting to ban camera cell phones. Some pictures secretly captured in locker rooms have ended up on the internet. One woman on the treadmill at JP Fitness was shocked that Sonseeahray Tonsall from News 4 Arkansas took her picture with her back turned. "Well I don`t like it. I can`t believe they can do that," said Debbie Bishop from North Little Rock. Club owner Jean-Paul Francoeur says until now he`s counted on members respecting one another`s privacy, but that the advent of camera phones is disturbing. He`s considering an anti-cell policy for the club. Camera phones are relatively new and experts say expect them to be around for a while. At just one wireless store in Little Rock, 75 percent of customers are asking for camera phones. Video-streaming on phones is expected to be the next innovation.
