Wal-Mart Plans More Stores

Wal-Mart Stores today says it plans to open up to 55 new stores, and as many as 230 Supercenters beginning in February. The world`s largest retailer says it also plans to open up to 30 new Neighborhood Market grocery stores and as many as 40 new Sam`s Clubs. The company says 30 of the Wal-Mart stores will replace existing stores, and 140 of the new Supercenters and 20 of the Sam`s Clubs will replace existing stores. Wal-Mart International plans to open 130 to 140 new stores in existing markets. In addition, the company plans three new regional merchandise distribution centers and two new food distribution centers during its next fiscal year, which begins in February.
