Updated: January 7, 2009
Two Little Rock police officers have lost their jobs after being the subjects of separate internal investigations. Officer Charles Johnson was fired September 19th, about a month after he was arrested and charged with first-degree sexual assault on a 16-year-old girl. Officer Alyson Craig was fired the same day after she tested positive for barbiturates in a random drug test July 22nd. The 30-year-old Johnson pleaded innocent to the charge and has a hearing Thursday in Pulaski County Circuit Court. He was placed on administrative leave after his arrest. Craig told a medical review officer she tested positive for the drug because she accidentally took medicine prescribed for her husband, according to police records. Craig has requested an administrative hearing to appeal her firing.
