Updated: January 7, 2009
Federal officials said today that this year`s supply of flu shots is expected to be plentiful and the vaccine will be available starting next month. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said October and November is the best time to receive a flu shot to be protected during peak flu season, which typically runs from December to March. Flu shots may be given to those age six months or older. The CDC urges shots for people who are at increased risk of flu complications. Those groups include the elderly, those with heart or lung disease, diabetes, asthma or illnesses that suppress the immune system such as HIV or AIDS. The agency said health care workers and others in close contact with those at high risk also should be vaccinated. On the net, click on the following link : www.cdc.gov
