Day Care Centers Step Up Safety

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The Arkansas Department of Human Services has issued an emergency regulation to require all child care centers in Arkansas to keep a roster of all children who get on and off a transport van. D-H-S sent out notices to the nearly 3000 child care centers in the state. The order is to go into effect immediately. The Child Development Center in Little Rock has kept transport rosters for some time. "We double- triple check," says school age coordinator Shiela Bailey. "It`s a matter of knowing where that child is." The Child Development Center also checks off children when they step inside. "The parents putthe children in our care so we want to know where they are," says Bailey.
