Thousands of people turned up in the River Market Saturday to raise funds and awarness in the fight against Juvenile Diabetes.
The 7th Annual Walk for the Cure was held to benefit research to cure the condition affecting over 150,000 children.
"It`s a deficiency of the immune system. It`s not something they can help. It`s something they`ll have for the rest of their lives and they`ll have complications with unless we find a cure," said Heather Brackins of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Organizers say it`s important to raise funds for research, since that is the only way to a cure.
Hopefully, in the next year or so, I won`t have to wear the pump or give shots or anything, just be free from it all," said Alexis Stamp from Pennsylvania. She was diagnosed with diabetes in the 9th grade.
