State, federal and local officials rounded up an estimated 30,000 marijuana plants in a ten-week effort across the state. This week, the raids have focused on southeast Arkansas. Six-thousand marijuana plants were seized in Lincoln and Jefferson counties. Police used six aircraft to find marijuana plants growing in fields. The search was aided by the Arkansas National Guard, which provided tanker trucks to refuel helicopters and Army Humvees to allow the searchers to reach isolated areas. Sheriff`s deputies also brought four-wheelers and all-terrain vehicles. The effort is reaching each of the state`s 75 counties. In all, 30-thousand marijuana plants have been located and destroyed. Grant, Jefferson and Lincoln counties were the targets this week. Figures weren`t available from the Grant County raid.
