Taps Capped At Bald Knob

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Water drinkers in Bald Knob are looking for other options these days. The town has been under a boil water advisory since late Monday. Test samples taken from Bald Knob`s water system have shown conditions ripe for bacteria growth. But representatives from the state health department say as of yet, no samples have tested as contaminated. The lack of water`s been a real challenge for the area school system. The district bought 100 thousand gallons of water from Wal-Mart and asked the National Guard to bring in two "water buffalo" tankers. Lunch menus for tomorrow have had to be changed to include items that don`t require so much water in preparation. Bald Knob will soon be connected to the Searcy water system. Managers of the plant in town say their facility is too old and too small to handle the growing needs in Bald Knob.
