Rural Arkansas Fire Departments Recieve Money

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded more than $460,000 dollars for firefighting efforts in rural Arkansas. The awards are part of the 13th round of grant announcements by FEMA for rural firefighters. Money from one program can be used for training, wellness and fitness, firefighting equipment, personal protective equipment, and changes to fire stations. Arkansas departments that have received grants from this program include: --Traskwood Fire Department, $64,494. --Holland Fire Department, $61,076. --Capps-Batavia Volunteer Fire Department in Harrison, $19,980. --Appleton Rural Volunteer Fire Department in Atkins, $27,230. --Highway 94 East Fire Department in Rogers, $27,743. --Sims Volunteer Fire Department, $80,744. --Saratoga Volunteer Fire Department, $4,512. --Golden City Volunteer Fire Department in Booneville, $7,799. --White Hall Fire Department, $45,882. --Louann Volunteer Fire Department, $39,600. Money from another program can be used for pumpers, brush trucks, tankers, rescue, ambulances, quints, aerials, foam units, and fireboats. Frenchport Volunteer Fire Department in Camden was awarded $81,000-thousand.
