Dangerous New Neighbor Dumped in Little Rock

Updated: January 7, 2009
It`s the height of West Nile season and the wet weather isn`t calming fears. It`s even worse in one south Little Rock neighborhood, where just this weekend, close to 500 tires were illegally dumped. James Floyd, president of the local Neighborhood Association and a resident of the area for more than 20 years, says he`s never seen anything like it. "It was overwhelming," he says. "When I say overwhelming, it was beyond anything I could have possibly imagined in a neighborhood." It`s not just any neighborhood either. It`s a community full of kids, home to Mitchell Academy, which is just two blocks down the street from the dump site. City officials say the person who did the dumping has been cited and that the site will be cleaned up by the end of the week. Until then, people like Floyd say they`ll do their best to stay on alert and make sure to keep their kids away.
