A two-month old baby died overnight in Maumelle, and her father is jail charged with killing her.
Police can`t say exactly how Sherryse Johnson was killed, but they say she had head injuries when she was found.
Police have charged 21-year-old Eddy Stanley Harris, Junior with capital murder.
Harris made the call to 911 around 2:15 Monday morning because the child wasn`t breathing.
Harris` father, Eddy Harris, Sr., says his son told him it was an accident.
"He told me `Daddy, I was gonna put her in the bed. I got up on the crutches, picked her up...I turned around and one of the crutches got caught on something and I fell forward to the wall and she was between the both of us,`" Harris said.
Police say their investigation tells them otherwise.
"I can`t get into the specifics of the case, but obviously we don`t feel like it was a matter of an accident, if we`re making capital murder charges," said Chief Sam Williams, Maumelle Police Department.
Harris has also been charged with possession of a criminal instrument and possession of marijuana, both misdemeanors.
The infant`s mother was not home at the time of the incident.
Eddy Harris, Jr. is being held in the Pulaski County Jail without bond.
His plea and arraignment hearing is set for September 23rd.
