The memory of a man who gave so much, lives on.
The American Heart Association today re-named its Volunteer of the Year award to honor the commitment of Ken Gilbert.
Gilbert volunteered at the Heart Association for 12 years and even had his own office!
Unfortunately, he recently passed away from complications with heart disease.
Those who worked with Gilbert reflect on how he inspired others.
Missy Lewis of the American Heart Association tells News 4 Arkansas, "He was an exceptional mentor for everyone. He not only volunteered, but he led by his volunteerism."
Ken Gilbert received many awards for his service, but those at the Heart Association says he was most proud when he could encourage others to volunteer.
