Jim Brown of Jonesboro has the songwriter`s credit on the current Number One country song, "It`s Five O`clock Somewhere." The song performed by Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett has been atop the Billboard Hot 100 country chart for five weeks. Brown is a 1981 graduate of Nettleton High School. He has worked as a studio keyboard musician and songwriter in Nashville for 21 years. Brown says he`s written 150 songs in the last few years. Some have been recorded by country stars, but weren`t included when the CDs were released. Brown says "It`s Five O`clock Somewhere" is the first song he wrote to be released. Brown says Jackson got excited as soon as he heard a demo of the song. Buffett wound up joining in the recording. Jackson, Buffett and Arista Records are reaping big rewards from album sales. Brown, who now lives in Nashville, Tennessee, will receive royalties from the song, money that will come in next year. He says he wants to use the money to put his children through college and pay off his house. Brown has been a studio musician for years and has toured with acts that include Marie Osmond.
