Philander Smith Students Get Fresh Start

Updated: January 7, 2009
Students at Philander Smith College began checking into the campus` new dormitory today. The building holds 265 students and is filling up fast. The dorm features private bathrooms, a workout facility, and a computer lab. "I think the dormitory as well as the library is gonna help us bring a better breed of students to Philander Smith College and increase morale here at Philander," said Phillip Murray, a junior political science major. "We have a computer lab, that`s even better because if I have a research paper at night, the library closes at ten, I can just come over here and finish it up," Raven Alexander, Miss Philander Smith College. The college is also starting the year with almost $500,000 in grants to offer more scholarships, and enhance the science program, for starters.
