Henderson Middle School Gets New Light

Updated: January 7, 2009
As parents bring their children back to Henderson Magnet Middle School Monday morning, they`ll have a new stop to make along the way. The city is almost done installing a new traffic light just outside the school`s campus. Residents in the neighborhood say they`d been complaining for years that the intersection needed a light. Now they`ll have it. "Well we can`t get out of here and they speed on Barrow Road. We call it the Barrow Road Speedway. The schoolkids cannot go across the street and they won`t stop for them," says Mollie Irvin, president of the Pennbrook/Clover Hill Neighborhood Association. The public works department says they`ll be testing the light Saturday to make sure it works. They should be done on Sunday, in time for school on Monday.
