Hospital officials say Friday that an elderly woman has died, after suffering a beating with brass knuckles in her nursing home bed. Dallas County Prosecutor Jamie Pratt says 81-year-old Willie Mae Ryan was taken off a ventilator at Jefferson Regional Medical Center and died yesterday evening. Pratt says he will file murder charges against two women already charged with felony adult abuse in the case. He plans to meet with investigators today and file specific charges early next week. Nursing assistants 17-year-old Shermika Rainey and 44-year-old Gayla Wilson are charged in Ryan`s beating on July 30th. They work at Dallas County Nursing Home. The state Office of Long Term Care is investigating the case and today placed both women on a registry of elderly abusers. Authorities say Ryan was beaten by a certified nurse`s aide while another employee held her on the bed. According to an affidavit, Wilson told Rainey she was tired of the woman, quote, "being disrespectful."
