A couple has been arrested following an investigation into theft from a Jefferson County church. Sheriff`s Major Greg Bolin says more than $8,000 was reported missing from Kearney Baptist Church, on U.S. 365 between Redfield and Jefferson. Investigators arrested Gerda and Ricky Crutchfield of Redfield on Monday night. Prosecutor Steve Dalrymple says they`re charged with felony theft. The theft allegedly took place between March 2000 and July 2002. Bolin says church pastor Billy Burks contacted police in September to report that money was missing from the church, and authorities have investigated since then. Bolin says Gerda Crutchfield was the church`s financial officer. If convicted, they face five to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $15,000. Arraignment was set for September Eighth.
