More Daycare Workers Could Be Indicted In Little Rock

A federal prosecutor says more people could face charges in a day care fraud case.
So far, a felony indictment accuses two people of soliciting day-care providers with an offer to sell vouchers so the providers could get paid by the federal Child Care Development Fund.
The fund subsidizes day-care services for children from welfare
mothers returning to work under new welfare guidelines.
The government contends that Department of Human Services worker
Sharita Hobbs and day-care operator Necole Wise Burton schemed with
several other day care operators. They all face charges of wire fraud, mail fraud and theft of government funds.
So far, three people have pleaded guilty in federal court to charges that they embezzled from the development fund. U-S Attorney Tom Gean would say only that more state employees could be
implicated.
