Searching for Answers: Homelessness in Little Rock

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
It`s an issue Little Rock city leaders fear is only growing bigger. Now, a group of city leaders say it`s time to tackle the problems associated with homelessness. "I think the issues need to be addressed because eveyrone has the right to have a place to live," says Jeff Hall, a Scott native who`s been living on the streets of Little Rock for two months. The Task Force on Homelessness says it has some solutions. They include: having more of a police presence downtown; establishing a central resource area where homeless people can get the care and services they need; opening more day-time "drop-in" centers; and educating the public about who exactly is homeless and why everyone would benefit once the problems are addressed. City leaders admit the solutions will be expensive, but say the city doesn`t have much of a choice if it wants to move forward.
