Tech Recognized for Keeping Students

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Arkansas Tech University in Russellville appears to be setting the standard when it comes to keeping students. A national company recently honored Tech with its Retention Excellence award. Only eight other colleges around the country received the recognition. Now other schools are wanting to know Tech`s secret. Arkansas Tech`s Dr. Gary Biller tells News 4 Arkansas, "We did receive a number of calls from schools across the nation as to how we were implementing it, what we were doing and of course some of the schools in Arkansas have asked what we were doing and how we`re working with freshman and we`re happy to share that information." Tech`s program pairs incoming freshman with faculty volunteers -- who help them adjust to the demands of college life. Story filed by: Lyndall Stout
