Former Benton Police Chief Wants His Job Back

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The Benton mayor fired John Chambers last week. But now, Chambers is appealing to the city council, sending a letter to each of the 10 council members and the mayor. In that letter, Chambers claims he was not given a reason by the mayor for his termination. He also requests to be put on the next city council meeting agenda as soon as possible, to appeal the decision. The next regular meeting is set for Monday, August 25. Chambers needs seven members to vote in his favor to overturn the decision. If that doesn`t work, Chambers tells News 4 Arkansas that he will pursue other legal options.
