Some local veterans have been out of school for a while but they`re still helping some community kids get ready. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1316 gave out free school supplies to some area children Saturday. Bags for students pre-kindergarten through fifth grade were filled with Kleenex, pencils, papers and glue. There are a lot of kids and parents who need help during this time of year, when they`ve got 2-3 kids or more in the family, school supplies can cost quite a bit," says Leon Hamilton, post commander. The post gave away almost three hundred bags filled with supplies.
