Coma Survivor Comes To Little Rock For Tests

The Arkansas man who awoke from a 19-year coma this summer is in Little Rock for weeks of medical evaluations.
Terry Wallis of Big Flat has been moved to a rehabilitation center in Little Rock, where he will be put through a regimen of tests over several weeks.
He will be seen by a neurologist, a rehabilitation doctor, a speech pathologist and a speech therapist. His physician, Doctor James Zini, hopes that Wallis` recovery means he could benefit from the testing.
The 39-year-old went into a coma after a car accident in 1984
and uttered his first words June 11th, when his mother visited him
at the Stone County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mountain
View.
His family said that before that day, Wallis showed only
occasional signs of recognition by blinking his eyes or grunting.
