Unemployment Benefits Drying up in Arkansas

By: Suzanne Burnette
Updated: March 23, 2011
A number of states are discussing ways to cut back on jobless benefits.

According to CNN, Arkansas and Florida are looking at reducing the number of weeks the jobless can collect state unemployment.

Indiana wants to limit the number of people that are eligible.

Generally speaking, this would only affect people who aren't currently collecting state benefits.

And, the proposed measures won't impact federal unemployment benefits.

A growing list of states want to minimize an increase in unemployment taxes businesses pay out of concern the tax hikes could deter hiring.
