Training Tip 24 from Little Rock Marathon Coach Tom Singleton:

Watch words for the race, the last week of training. Watch words are: nothing new, nothing new, nothing new.

Right now you should have a plan of what you're gonna wear. The shoes, the socks, the tights. Everything that should be your apparel for race day, already laid out in your mind, ready to go with the number pinned on.

When you go to the expo, you're gonna see some really good stuff. New written material, maybe a new shirt, maybe a new pair of shorts that you just can't live without, or a great pair of socks that's got a good slogan on them that you want, a deal on some new shoes.

Maybe you'll find a new gel, something new to eat, something to train with, some new drink, a sports drink that you want to try.

Great! Buy it all. But leave it on the shelf, at the house come race day and use them for next year's training, next year's race.

I know you're gonna go great. We're really proud of you.

See you race day!
