A 95-year-old New York City woman is definitely not feeling her age.
Ida Keeling ran a 60-meter dash in just over 29 seconds, the fastest sprint ever for a woman in her age group. (To put her win into perspective, a new record was recently set for the 60-meter dash by a Nebraska college student who ran the distance in 6.71 seconds).
The race Keeling won was part of Masters Sprint Night at the armory in Harlem, New York.
"After it was all over I felt so uplifted and relieved. This is what I need," she said.
Keeling is just four-and-a-half feet tall and weighs a tiny 83 pounds, but this great-grandmother is also a record-setting athlete.
Keeling says she stays in shape by running the stairs in her apartment building, weight lifting and bike riding.
