A woman has been arrested in Lawrence County for allegedly stealing lottery tickets from the convenience store where she worked.
The Sheriff's Office says Jackie Hare, 38, of Powhatan, is charged with theft of property in the case.
She was arrested after Shelia’s Quick Shop of Lynn reported that an employee had been stealing lottery tickets.
Deputies say a check of surveillance video from the store showed Hare taking the tickets and not paying for them. Records checks of lottery scans and purchases also showed inconsistencies, the Sheriff's Office said.
According to a news release from the Sheriff's Office, Hare admitted to investigators that she had indeed taken tickets without paying for them and said she “didn’t have a clue how many she scratched off without paying for them.”
Hare was arrested at her home and taken to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond hearing.
