Training Tip 3 from Little Rock Marathon Coach Hobbit Singleton:

Another very important thing to do if you're training for your first endurance race is to set your goal.

And your goal, if you're training for your first marathon or half marathon, needs to be to finish.

Don't set some pie-in-the-sky goal that's going to be "Oh, I'm going to do this marathon in an hour and a half," if you've never run at all.

Of course, if you're going to do it in an hour and a half, someone else is going to want to talk to you about the Olympics.

But, make it a very realistic goal and finishing and worry about that. Don't worry about your time.
