Rosh Hashanah begins a nearly two-week-long period of introspection among Jewish people, during which sins transgressed during the previous year are cleansed and the slate starts anew.
The period of introspection culminates with the more solemn high holy day of Yom Kippur, which means Day of Atonement.
Synagogues across Arkansas, such as Bentonville's Etz Chaim and Little Rock's Agudath Achimare are planning services to celebrate the holiday. Agudath Achimare's Erev Rosh Hashanah service begins at 7:15 tonight while Etz Chaim's service starts at 7:30 p.m.
