KARK 4 Partners with Little Rock Food & Travel Blog Writer

By: Suzanne Burnette
Updated: August 10, 2010
KARK 4 and ArkansasMatters.com welcome a new content partner with the addition of the food and travel blog Tie Dye Travels, written by Kat Robinson of Little Rock.

Robinson, a former television news producer, started TieDyeTravels.com nearly three years ago and has visited hundreds of restaurants, festivals and more in pursuit of flavorful subjects. Along the way, she's taken more than 60-thousand photographs to enhance her posts. Her work appears in local, state and national publications.

"As we continue to build on the success of the long-running KARK 4 News at Noon and our website, we're always looking for content we feel our viewers and readers will not only enjoy, but come to recognize as part of our brand. Kat's blog content is a great fit for both," said KARK 4 News Director Rob Heverling.

Selected content from TieDyeTravels will reside under the Life tab on ArkansasMatters.com and Robinson will also appear monthly on KARK 4 News at Noon to fill-in viewers about where she's been lately, where she's going in the next few weeks, and the best things she's eaten in previous weeks.

"We're relentless in our effort to see KARK 4 News and ArkansasMatters.com branch out into the unconventional areas outside regular news and information. We're just starting to do that with our Special Web Content section and also with our 4 The Greater Good project. Our viewership and web visitors are quick to ask for more when they see us do things differently than our competitors, and we want to meet that demand," said Rick Rogala, Nexstar Broadcasting’s Senior Vice President and KARK General Manager.

Robinson and her blog were introduced in July in a new "Special Web Content" section of ArkansasMatters.com that was followed up with an appearance on KARK 4 News at Noon. An overwhelming viewer response to Robinson's appearance encouraged the station to enter into the content-sharing agreement with Robinson which begins August 11.
