Wal-Mart has not been in the business of selling lottery tickets, but Arkansas' lottery director hopes he can get the store chain to consider the idea.

Ernie Passailaigue tells KARK that he will approach the retail giant about it.

"What I hope to do is talk to [th]em, at least introduce ourselves because whether they sell lottery tickets or not, their employees, their sons and daughters of Arkansans are going to be going to school on lottery funded scholarships, so there's going to be an impact there by a lot of folks that work for Wal-Mart," says Passailaigue.

Passailaigue also says he wants to have lottery ticket vending machines.  These would work by scanning driver's licenses so retailers could sell tickets without having to provide extra staff.
