2,000 Arkansas Retailers Expected to Sell Lottery Tickets

The Arkansas Lottery Commission continues with the planning stages of the new state lottery.

One thing the panel is considering is background checks of retailers, and inspection of facilities are also likely.

The first lottery tickets are expected to be sold by the end of the year by about two-thousand retail outlets in the state.

In addition, the commission is expected to hire enforcement officers to guard against fraud by retailers selling tickets.

The commission is authorized to hire as many as 75 people in addition to the 13 positions specified by legislation creating the commission.
