If it were up to Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter, the new director of the Arkansas Lottery would have previous lottery experience. Last year, voters approved a constitutional amendment proposed by Halter to permit the lottery to fund college scholarships.
Tickets for the lottery are expected to go on sale in the fall, with the first grants to be awarded next year.
Halter says he expects the lottery to generate 100-million dollars annually in net proceeds.
A lottery director has yet to be hired by the lottery commission.
