Governor Ready to Sign Lottery Bills

Arkansas residents will move closer to having their own state lottery to wager on today.

Governor Mike Beebe has scheduled a signing ceremony for three o'clock this afternoon at the State Capitol.

At that time he will affix his signature to bills recently approved by the Arkansas Legislature. The bills create a state lottery, provide for oversight of the games, and allocate net proceeds of the lottery to a scholarship fund.

The lottery was approved by Arkansas voters back in November.
