Adjust your mirrors: You should keep yourself in a driving position as much as possible when adjusting your mirrors and check them all in a driving position before you start moving. Adjust your rear view mirror so that you see as much of your rear windshield as possible. Adjust the left side mirror to a position in which you can barely see the left side of your car. Adjust the right side mirror so you can just see a small portion of the right side of your car.
Adjust your headrest: The center of the headrest should coincide directly with the back of your head. This adjustment can help prevent injury in accidents.
Familiarize yourself with all necessary controls: If you are driving an unfamiliar car you should take a minute to find any controls you might need while driving. This will help prevent distractions and fumbling with controls while driving.
