The man behind the "worst dressed" list for nearly 50 years has died.

The "Los Angeles Times" reports "Mr. Blackwell" died Sunday afternoon at L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center from complications due to an intestinal infection.

The one-time model, actor and fashion designer was best known for taking shots at the fashion choices of movie stars, musicians and other celebrities.

Blackwell, whose real name was Richard Sylvan Selzer, published his "Ten Best and Worst Dressed People" list for "American Weekly Magazine" in 1960 and went on to announce his "Ten Worst Dressed Women" each year from his home.
