An annual Halloween event is officially underway at the Little Rock Zoo.

The zoo’s decorating residents, elephants Ellen and Mary, displayed their own unique talents at pumpkin-carving this morning in their exhibit.

Ellen and Mary carved, er, crushed jack o’ lanterns from pumpkins to kick off the Zoo’s 17th Annual Fall Festival, BOO AT THE ZOO.

After their artistic endeavor, the ladies played with the squash shards as animal enrichment for the rest of the morning.

BOO, Arkansas’ largest Halloween festival, will be open from 6-9 p.m. Friday, October 24 through Friday, October 31.

The event offers trick-or-treating in a safe environment and a variety of fun Halloween activities such as the Fun House, Haunted Train, Haunted House, nightly costume contest, Creature Features, rides and concessions.

Advance sale tickets may be purchased for $4 per person.
