"Eagle Eye" soared above the competition at the movie box office this weekend.

The Shia LaBeouf thriller opened at number one with 29-million-dollars in ticket sales.

Trailing behind with a mere 13-point-six-million was the Richard Gere-Diane Lane romantic drama "Nights In Rodanthe."

Samuel L. Jackson's suspense thriller "Lakeview Terrace" came in third this weekend with seven-million.

The independently released Kirk Cameron drama "Fireproof" and the Coen Brothers' star-studded comedy "Burn After Reading" rounded out the top five.
