Updated: September 8, 2008
The box office saw its worst weekend in five years in the North American market.

Nicolas Cage's thriller "Bangkok Dangerous" topped weekend sales with just seven-point-eight-million dollars in box office receipts.

The David Spade comedy "Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star" was the last movie to see lower opening-weekend numbers in September of 2003.

After three weeks at number one, "Tropic Thunder" slipped to second place with a mere seven-point-five-million dollars.

"The House Bunny," "The Dark Knight" and "Traitor" rounded out the top five.
