Several studies have linked spanking and other kinds of physical punishment during childhood -- with risky sexual behavior later in life.
The studies indicate that children whose parents spanked, hit or even threw things at their children as punishment could be at a bigger risk for getting into a sexual relationship with physical or verbal abuse.
Researchers aren't saying that spanking causes risky sexual behavior, but say it could be one of many factors that might contribute to sexual problems later on.
They say most children who are spanked do not suffer long-term damage.
