Women taking hormone therapy pills are more likely to have abnormal mammograms and undergo biopsy procedures. Researchers say women who had taken a combination of estrogen and progesterone hormones had abnormal mammogram results more often than women taking sugar pills.
They also found 10 percent of women taking hormones had breast biopsies compared to six percent of women on placebo.
Wyeth Pharmaceuticals says the findings don't change what's already knowN about the benefits and risks of hormone therapy.
