A healthy diet and exercise are vital for patients with heart disease -- but a new study shows many are ignoring doctor's orders.
Researchers studied the dietary habits of a group of people diagnosed with heart disease.
12% of participants ate the daily recommended amount of vegetables, a year after they were diagnosed.
Fewer people got the recommended daily amount of fruit.
Researchers say doctors should recommend dietary counseling to heart patients, in addition to exercise.
